Terms of Service What we collect Who can see what Your rights
KnownBench holds two things most products do not: a consultant's asking rate, and their resume. Both are treated as restricted throughout this policy, and both are covered explicitly below rather than folded into a general "profile data" line.

1. Who is responsible for your data

KnownBench is operated by Ekdutn Inc., a Canadian corporation. Ekdutn is the controller of the personal information described here. Questions, requests, and complaints go to [email protected] and reach a person, not a ticket queue.

2. What we collect

If you only visit the site

Nothing beyond what any web server necessarily sees to serve a page. KnownBench runs no analytics, no advertising pixels, and no third-party tracking scripts of any kind. There is no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to.

If you ask for a walkthrough or an invite

Your name, work email, company name if you give one, and whatever you write in the message field.

If you hold a consultant account

If you hold a company account

If your company subscribes

Payment is processed entirely by Stripe. Card numbers never reach KnownBench and are never stored by us. What we keep is a Stripe customer reference, a subscription reference, the subscription's status, and the amount charged, so that the account knows whether it is paid up.

Operational records

Notifications sent to you, invitations issued and accepted, compliance flags raised by a reviewer, and application error logs. Error logs can incidentally contain an account identifier where that is what failed.

3. What we do not do

4. Why we are allowed to hold it

For account holders, because it is necessary to provide the service you asked for: a bench cannot match a consultant to a role without knowing what the consultant does and what the role needs. For walkthrough requests, because you asked us to get in touch. Where consent is the basis, you can withdraw it by deleting the relevant information or asking us to.

5. Who can see what

Access is enforced in the database itself, not just in the interface, so a request for data an account is not entitled to returns nothing rather than being hidden by the page.

6. Our service providers

Each is used only to run KnownBench, and none is given data for its own purposes.

7. Where your data is stored

Ekdutn Inc. is Canadian, but KnownBench's database, authentication and file storage run in a Supabase project hosted in the United States, in the AWS us-west-2 region in Oregon. Cloudflare and Stripe are both United States companies operating globally.

This means your information is stored and processed outside Canada, and outside the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, and is subject to the laws of the country it sits in, including lawful access requests by authorities there. If that is not acceptable to you, do not create an account, and email us to have an existing one removed.

8. How long we keep things

9. Your rights

Whatever jurisdiction you are in, you can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct anything wrong, delete it, or stop using it. Consultants can edit almost all of it directly in the app, including removing an uploaded resume.

Under Canadian federal law (PIPEDA) you have the right to access your personal information and to challenge its accuracy, and you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom you additionally have rights of portability, restriction and objection, and may complain to your local supervisory authority. We do not make automated decisions that produce legal effects about you. Match fit scores are a ranking aid shown with their reasoning, and a person decides who to contact.

Requests go to [email protected]. We do not charge for them.

10. Cookies and local storage

KnownBench sets no advertising or analytics cookies. Once you sign in, the authentication library keeps your session in your own browser's local storage so that you stay signed in. Clearing your browser data signs you out. That is the extent of it.

11. Security

Access rules are enforced at the database layer rather than only in the interface, credentials are handled by Supabase's authentication system and never stored by us in readable form, card details are handled entirely by Stripe, and the site is served only over HTTPS. No system is perfect, and we will tell affected people directly if something goes wrong that puts their information at real risk.

12. Children

KnownBench is a professional service for working consultants and the companies that engage them. It is not directed at children, and accounts are not knowingly created for anyone under 18. If you believe a child has an account, email us and it will be removed.

13. Changes to this policy

We will update this page as the product changes, and the "last updated" date above will change with it. Where a change materially affects how we handle information you have already given us, we will tell account holders rather than relying on you to re-read the page.

14. Contact
